Blog Safari: 3-1-08

This was an interesting week for me on my safari. I ran across more blogs than ever while using some new social networks like Entrecard. There were some duds I’m afraid but I managed to find some stuff that made me think and some other stuff that was really exciting. What you find below are the souvenirs of my Blog Safari last week. As usual, all the blogs I feature here get a well-deserved stumble. I encourage you to give them a thumbs up as well. Enjoy.

The Sweater
A very simple posts that shows a post need not have a bunch of visuals and a high word count to be interesting. This post is very inspiring to me.

Delusions of Grandeur
Informative post on Google PageRank. This is the kind of attitude toward it I like to see out there.

How to Live a More Fulfilling Life: # The Truth ab...
It really helped me put a stressful day into perspective and get in a good mood again.

NEA: NEA’s Read Across America
March 3rd is Read Across America, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. It’s the 50th anniversary of the Cat in the Hat. Check it out.

Trippin on Burning Man Festival
This guy found me on Blog Catalog and I am so glad. I am a giant fan of Kerouac and the beat poets of the 50’s. This is “On the Road” all over again. If you’d like to experience their journey in your armchair, get the feed from this new blog.

Social Media Daily
This is Michelle MacPherson’s creation and I am more and more impressed with her site and her ideas on SEO. She’s not about “tricks” she’s about writing and real relationships with other blogs and networks. That’s how I have always tried to be. Go there and get a little secret help sheet on SEO.

Weblog Tools Collection , Interview With WPThemerK... This looks very interesting. While I spent months teaching myself the blueprint for making a WordPress theme, there is a new site that allows a beginning WordPress themer to create a full blown theme with just two files: a CSS and an HTML.

I Swear
This one from Jessica the Rock Chick had me laughing. You guys know she’s always git stuff like that. Check this one out if you are not already reading over there.

How F’d up is This?
We’re going to wrap Brandon’s socks up in a PlayStation box as a result of this vid over at Nick’s ;) Of course, we will eventually give him the gift which this kid probably didn’t get.

Knight in Shining Armor
My wife blogged a photo of me and Isabella at Chuck-ee-Cheese. She looks cute, I look sort of freaked out (though I wasn’t).

Chiaroscuro

Amy has some amazing photos this week of light coming through doorways. She has many other great shots on her blog. Check her out.

How to Make a Video Tutorial for your Blog
Derek gives us a great tutorial. Besides his great content articles on a variety of subjects, I forget sometimes that he is a coder for a living. It is great now that I know how to do video tutorials on my blog! Check it out.

How to Use the SEO Plugin for WordPress
Katy has become one of favorite reads these days on my Flock Reader. This is an excellent explanation of one of the best plugins you should have. She is on the cutting edge, get her on your list.

Take an Art and Music Walk: Texas Style
Shelly’s the girl! If you know her blog you know that is the understatement of the year. This post was so cool! I wanna go live in Texas now.

Negative Thinking: TAKE THAT!
Marcia has some very quotable quotes in her posts. This is one of those posts!

There are a couple I didn’t get to and they are both on my blogroll so make sure you read those sites there. I need a better system of filtering these! Have a great week and thanks for reading at the Funny Farm.

Thanks for the link love Damien!  If you have suggestions for future video tutorials, feel free to let me know.  While I have posted about it before, I was thinking of a tutorial to show how to use phpMyAdmin to query for your top commentators in a given month.

@Katy: It’s such a great plugin!  I like the way you reviewed it and introduced people to it.

@Sabrina: I did enjoy it.  Glad to have you on my feed reader!  Take care.

@Derek: You’re welcome.  That’d be great!  Sometimes my widget disappears before I make my list of commentators to blog about.  It would be helpful to know how to get it from phpMyadmin!
