Speedlinking, Riley Life, and a Footnotes Plugin

Radio news on the halfOkay, so my friends on and off the web know my wife is about to give birth to our third child, Julianna Riley. It’s been pins and needles since her due date came and went and today there has been no break in the stress. She’s miserable and I am anxiously ready to meet my new daughter. When will she be here? You can imagine our utter annoyance when the doctor today who, instead of inducing labor, sent us home with a “scheduled” appointment to induce her tomorrow. Isn’t modern medicine wonderful?

But wait, I have to tell you about an exciting blog thing I discovered real fast . . . In the mix of all this hullaballoo, I was overjoyed to find a plugin that allows me to put footnotes in my posts!!! See it in action here. Okay, back to the Riley baby saga now . . .

I took work off today to handle the kids while she was in with the doc. It looks like she’ll have the baby tomorrow after being induced at 4pm. I’ve since called in a sub for the rest of the week. It’s an exciting time! I’ve got my single dollar bills and fives ready for the hospital vending machines. The last time I was there I had to borrow from my mother-in-law for a snickers and corn nuts while we hung out between contractions.

I know this is an unexpected break in my recent wave of language related posts, but hey, getting away from my art sometimes improves it! So we’ll see. Anyhow, since I’m not offering much in the way of language content today, I thought I’d do some “speedlinking” like I’ve seen a few friends do. Below are five of my favorite posts on Google reader this week. Some are hilarious and some thought provoking. All are great!

Thank you for the “link love!” I’m watching anxiously for you to tell us about your new baby. I’m jealous of the new plug-in. Tomorrow I’m going to spend some time reading!

Yeah, I’ll make sure and bring the camera tomorrow (unless we go tonight!!!) I usually don’t do the “today I broke a nail” type me me me writing, I am more into language all around us and its role in pop culture. Nonetheless, I’m learning sometimes personal posts are more entertaining, and it seems to have built a lot of blogs’ traffic out there so hey, I’m game . . . it’s not so bad.

The plugin is very cool. If you like the way it looks and would like to try it on your blog, I have it linked on my “freebies” page. Thanks Shelly.
