The Diarist Has Re-entered the Building

I have been away from the online diary habit for some time. I’m eager to start again. I bring tales of my wanderings into film criticism and podcasting.

After much practice doing what you love and want to be known for, you eventually rise. You elevate.

After huge expanses of growth in ones life, it is a privilege to reflect. Even more than that, if you’re an online diarist, these times are 24 Karat golden. I’ve been going through growth like never before in my life as well as in my online pursuits and I’m so happy to be here sharing them now.

My pursuits of work (teaching 4th grade), reviewing movies, and learning to record and edit via podcasting are blossoming. While I don’t write there every day, you can catch up with my teaching endeavors at my “Dynamite Lesson Plan” blog. That site is “full” with ideas that have not been readenough, in my opinion, so it is set to renew old posts. Occasionally I do add a new post. I am accepting of my class this year. The challenges at least equal the rewards. That’s why I still teach. Then there is another hat I wear out of nearly pure love …

My pursuit as a film critic is going great! I have learned a template and I am able to write reviews I am proud of daily. That is to say, I publish one review a day. You can read those and I invite you to subscribe there at

Finally, I have become relatively adept at recording and editing audio via my podcast. It is “The Damien Riley Podcast” but I call it The DRP for short. It makes it easier to promote when it’s a shorter name. I use podomatic as my current podcast host. They are great. You can hear some of my new tricks I am learning in my latest episode. Please note I am promoting all my online stuff on twitter. You can follow me there, I am @rileyonfilm

I am still an advocate for maintaining and practicing those pursuits you are passionate about. I teach or a living but I have these hobbies that keep me alive and young at heart. How are your pursuits going? Let’s talk more. I’ll do my best! Leave me a comment so I know you’re there. Thanks!

I'm an online diarist, blog film critic, & podcaster. My views on films and life are often 'left of center' on, but I have respect for other viewpoints. I married my high-desert princess (now my queen). We have 3 children.
