Modern Art

October 24th, 2007 by Sarah

I tried thinking of a Thursday Thirteen, but couldn’t, so my next best thought was to share the predicament I found myself in last week when I returned home from school. I came home, got comfy, and realized my two year old was being far too quite upstairs. Though it was ten pm and I should have assumed she was sleeping, I knew better seeing how hubby was in charge (ha ha, sorry hun). So I attempted to sneak up on her only to learn that not only has she mastered the ancient art of door opening, but that she also decided to follow in Picasso’s footsteps. This is the scene I snuck up on.

    Yes, I was in charge.
No, I did not know she was in the closet.

Ohhhhh, how cute! And I can say that because I’ve been there….4 times! LOL We had our living room painted when all the kids were small….The next night I was sitting on the couch, turned on the TV and saw “ARI” written on the wall. She was 4 at the time and the only one of the kids who could write, but she denies doing it to this day! LOL

Thank goodness the painters left the extra paint! Very cute picture!

Hi there Mrs. Riley!!! First of all, want to say how blessed you are. Your girls are beautiful.

Now, on to the subject at hand! My daughter did something similar when she was two. I had put all three kids (now 9,8,&7) down for nap. I opened a book and as soon as I opened it, my eyes closed. Olivia decided to wake up, grab a Sharpie, and draw on anything she could find (including my glasses, my knees, my upper lip, you name it). I woke up to find all this graffiti artwork -eVeRyWhErE!

I’m going to look at this picture and see only the good! 1st, she is an excellent artist (and a beautiful child!). 2nd, blue is my favorite color. 3rd, no one else in town will have a wall like yours. 4th, um…at least she had the decency to strip her clothes off before painting!

Sorry for you dilemma, but it is cute!

Jessica: My nieces have been very creative through the years with wall decor so I thought I would be prepared, but I had no idea she had learned to open doors.

Secret Agent Mama: This isn’t her first art, just her first in paint, but NEVER has it appeared on me, ha ha ha. Brave little one to graffiti right on mom.

Shelly: I laughed so hard when I read what you said about her stripping off the clothes first, because I had considered how convenient that was. One thing that is not visible in the photo is my clothing (which was in a nearby laundry pile) that she thought would look pretty with some blue paint added to them :)

Oh NO!! Yet you did the right thing when you took a pic. I find that somehow it keeps me from screaming bloody murder at the littles.

I sure hope that was “washable” paint.

Grabbing the camera for a Kodak moment certainly justifies the incident.
