My first “real” blog ever

August 7th, 2007 by Sarah

Married to a man who is nearly addicted to blogging, I have finally felt the pressure to start my own. When I say pressure this isn’t neccesarily a bad thing, but after a year of nudging, pushing, urging, and insisting on my husbands part, I’d say it’s time I give this modern “sport” a shot. Here is a bit of my history:

I just turned 30, am the mom of three beautiful children and am approaching my 5 yr. anniversary to previously mentioned dh- dear hubby (or damned hubby depending on the mood I’m in, lol). I recently stopped waitressing after nearly 11 yrs at the same restaurant, and will be finished with my bachelors degree next Spring. At this time I will begin my credential program to become an elementry school teacher. Since it took me 10 yrs to finish my Associates I will be extremely excited to finally be done.

One of the reason’s I have resisted blogging for so long is because my writing lacks excitement, and if it bores me this much, I’m not sure I want to invite my friends to suffer through it, lol. Therefore my goal here will be to add more umph to my writing before torturing anyone who knows me personally. Suggestions are always welcome (except from you Damien :) ).

Welcome to blogging! It is an amazing “sub-culture” out there for the writer’s taking. Probably as you continue to write posts your next steps will be visiting and commenting on other blogs and you will find, as nice a person as you are, that you make many blogger friends. It’s a lot to take in at first, but i think you’re gonna find that the blog (AKA Online Journal, Online Diary, personal blog) is a cool way to network with people. Have fun and when you need help or a tweak or something, you usually can get a hold of me on the other side of the living room approximately 9 feet away ;)

What’s funny is that Damien left that long ass comment as though he’s NOT 9 feet away and telling you all that as he writes it.

  3. Sarah Says:

Riley: Oh so true. The funny thing is I really wanted this site of mine to be called “What really happened: A commentary of Damien Riley’s blog”. I would have had endless prompts and never been short on topics, ha ha ha.

Sarah -Welcome to our world! This entry tells the story, you will fit in better than you can imagine out here. The DH remark, the last line in your post are evidence. And your reply to Riley, well, maybe you need to add that as a subtitle or start a second one - in your spare time, of course. it is going to be fun reading your blog, because my husband and I react to each other in a similar manner, when his job slows up he will be writing more, he even said the words, “I have an idea for a blog title,” the other day, I nearly fainted.

How nice it is to hear from Damien’s better half! (notice I said “better”) LOL!!

Damien’s no more addicted than the rest of us are!! You might want to run before you need a treatment program or something, too.

Welcome to the blogosphere! I started at the bottom of your posts so I could read them in order and I’m anxious to hear more about and from you!!!!

Welcome to the world of blogging Sarah! I’ve been reading Damien’s blog, err journal, for some time and look forward to checking yours out as well.

I’ve been trying to convince my wife to join the blogging ranks as well. I love your comment about what you wanted to call your blog! :)

  7. Sarah Says:

Thank You all for stopping by, it is very exciting to get readers and comments. I wasn’t sure blogging would be for me, but spending the day readering some of your brilliant posts has given me some spark and before you know it I’ll probably be hooked as well.

Marcia: I declined to start a commentary of Damien’s blog because sometimes I think his version is more fun anyways, but you might every so often see my version pop-up.

Derek: I have been getting constant pressure to blog from dh for awhile now. He finally had to pick up my computer, choose a user name and password, and send me the link. My only contribution was the title and subtitle, lol. You may have to work a bit harder to get your better half going.

A day late and a dollar short. That’s what I always am! But, Sarah, welcome to the world of blogging. Marcia, Jessica and I will keep Damien in line for you LOL. You are doing a great job with the first post. Just keep writing. Anybody who persists in getting a degree while raising kids can handle writing a blog!

Welcome once again to the blogoshere. I’m glad that you started blogging.
